Wound Care License Practical Nurse (LPN)

Position Summary: 

 

The Wound Care Licensed Vocational Nurse coordinates treatment to provide comprehensive wound assessments and plan of care including goals, implementation, evaluation and outcomes for patients ranging in age from 18 years to geriatric.  Provides patient, family and staff education regarding prevention of pressure ulcers and therapeutic support services, dressing selection and adjunctive therapy.  Collaborates with clinical staff, physicians and other members of the treatment team to provide the patient with the highest quality and most appropriate care.  Acts as a resource for the treatment team and clinical staff and assists with staffing as assigned.

? Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.

? Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.

? Strong organizational and analytical skills.

? Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Order entry, data input)

? Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.

? Freedom from illegal use of drugs.

? Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

 

  Education and/or Experience: 

Graduate from an accredited licensed vocational or practical nursing program.  Experience required may vary based on organizational needs at time of hiring, but minimum of one (1) year acute care experience.  Knowledge of principles of infection control.  Knowledge of comprehensive wound management including wound assessment, formulation of treatment plan, recommendation of appropriate wound dressing, documentation, evaluation, education, data collection, surveillance and outcome data.

 

  Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

Current state license to practice as an LVN/LPN.  Must maintain current provider CPR certification throughout employment.  ACLS certification preferred within 1 year of employment or as available courses allow.  Wound Care certification preferred.
