We are currently seeking a Laboratory Associate II at our San Juan Capistrano location. This position is accountable for performing various routine laboratory responsibilities and will directly report to a Supervisor or Lab Manager.  The successful candidate will identify problems with assays and equipment, troubleshoot and notify appropriate technical staff, as well as, demonstrate initiative in making suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity.

 

Specific responsibilities under minimal supervision include:Consistently performs simple to highly complex assays/procedures utilizing established procedures.Prepares protocols/logs or other appropriate documents for routine and/or non-routine use/assignments.Organizes and prepares clinical specimens for testing/compounding; identifies problems and demonstrates ability to resolve appropriately.Prepares equipment, performs preventive maintenance, identifies problems, troubleshoots and performs calibrations or function verifications with a high level of competency.Maintains inventory of consumable items including reagents and supplies, unpacks, logs, dates and stores reagents/supplies upon receipt and properly rotates stock for use.Prepares reagents and controls using automated or fixed volume measuring devices.  Performs phase-in reagents according to established guidelines.

 

To qualify, you must possess:BS/BA degree in Biological Science or Chemistry (other life science degree coursework will be evaluated)Computer skills: word processing skills using Windows based software (Word, Excel, etc.).  Other automation skills helpful.  Typing skills desirable.Ability to lift light to moderately heavy objects
