Overview : This position analyzes and evaluates medical records and assigns appropriate clinical diagnoses and procedures codes in accordance with nationally recognized coding guidelines for the development of systemwide database and submission of hospital claims.

Responsibilities :

This position analyzes and evaluates medical records and assigns appropriate clinical diagnoses and procedures codes in accordance with nationally recognized coding guidelines for the development of systemwide database and submission of hospital claims.

Qualifications :

Requires a minimum of 3 yrs experience as a medical records Coder. Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of ICD coding, CPT coding principles, coding software, and the recommended American Health Information Management Association coding competencies. Must be familiar with pharmacologic agents. Accredited Record Technician/Certified Coding Specialist in active status with AHIMA preferred. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with all levels of hospital staff, physician, and other contacts.
