Title: Pharmacy Clerk

 

Reports to: Pharmacist in Charge

 

General Summary:

 

The purpose of the pharmacy clerk is to assist the pharmacist and technicians with clerical duties such as answering telephones, filling patient care areas and entering pharmacy billing charge system. May type a prescription label or enter information into a computer record system.

 

Essential Functions:

 Helps patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders Answers telephones and uses excellent customer service skillsAt point of sale, verifies that customer receives correct prescription(s) Orders and receives stock and suppliesCleans equipment and work areas, sterilize containers Performs other duties under the direction of a pharmacistAssists pharmacy technicians Assists pharmacist in scheduling and maintaining workflow

 

Operations:

 Maintains a positive and cheerful and professional attitudeCooperates with teamworkReports to work on time; notifies management in advance if absent or latePractices safety at all times

 Set and achieve goals during each review period Take advantage of the training opportunities that are offered

 

Supervision Received:

 Supervised by the PharmacistPerforms semi-routine duties where some judgment is required when communicating with customers or other employeesWork is performed under defined and uniform supervision of Pharmacist

 

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

 High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree Professional demeanor  and courteous attitudeAbility to respect confidentiality of patient data Strong communication skills Understanding of medical terminology and calculations Ability of type at least 30 words per minute Knowledge of computer operations

 Time management and cash managementAbility to communicate efficiently and precisely with customers and doctorsExcellent communication and team skillsAbility to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions

 

Working Conditions:

 Work is normally performed in a pharmacyMust be able during busy time to work under pressure and handle customers? prescriptions quickly and accurately No or very limited exposure to physical risk
