Pharmacist

Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California, is looking for two motivated pharmacists to join our pharmacy team.  Our pharmacists practice in a variety of settings; current positions? duties include 40% outpatient, 40% inpatient, and 20% ambulatory care clinics.  These positions are full-time day shift (07:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), Monday-Friday, with one Saturday day shift every 5-6 weeks.  These are general schedule (GS) positions.

 

Outpatient duties: checking final products for accuracy, counseling patients on medication usage, and consulting with providers on pharmaceutical information.  Our pharmacy utilizes provider e-prescribing ? 70% of outpatient prescriptions are entered in the computer system by providers.  We do not accept telephone/verbal orders from providers, and we do not handle or process third-party billing.

 

Inpatient duties: checking final products for accuracy, rounding with medical teams, and consulting with nursing and medical staff on pharmaceutical information.  One-hundred percent of inpatient orders are entered in the computer system by providers, eliminating all guesswork on physician?s handwriting.  Majority of patients served are OB/GYN and post-operative same-day-surgery patients.

 

Ambulatory care clinics duties: providing direct care to patients in Coumadin Clinic, Cardiovascular Risks Reduction Clinic, and Heart Failure Clinic, under the clinical oversight of Internal Medicine and Cardiology physicians.

 

Our pharmacists serve on multiple committees (Medication Management, Pharmacoeconomic, Infection Control, Pain Management, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), conduct diabetic education sessions for patients, provide pharmaceutical training to pharmacy/nursing/medical staff, and serve as preceptor for 4th year pharmacy students.
