Clinical Supervisor
Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE Plans, organizes, directs, and monitors the functions of the clinical staff, and the medical equipment and supplies to ensure the quality and continuity of health care required for the effective operation of the health care center. May be responsible for other ancillary functions.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Interviews, hires, counsels, trains, and evaluates nursing staff and other direct reports in conjunction with the Center Administrator and Chief of Staff to assure the effective development and utilization of human resource potential to promote a quality health care delivery system.
2. Schedules nursing and ancillary staff; monitors vacation and sick time.
3. Responsible for ongoing training of staff including familiarization with health care procedures, Company policy and education required for relicensure or registration.
4. Responsible for staffing, supply and medical equipment budgets and equipment maintenance in conjunction with Center Administrator.
5. Works with Center Administrator to promote member satisfaction; educates staff on the health care contract system and the professionalism and skill necessary for the delivery of quality health care; documents member complaints and works with Member Services to resolve them.
6. Communicates with Physicians and Center Administrator on any provider issues relating to nursing or ancillary staff.
7. Implements and monitors QA functions such as CPR updates, infection control, narcotic & chart audits, lab & x-ray quality controls.
8. Helps in clinical areas as necessary.
9. Plans and schedules in-service programs as necessary.
10. May order medical supplies; monitors par level inventories and supply expense.
Typical Additional Responsibilities:
1. Maintains and schedules appropriate nursing and ancillary staffing needs)
2. Responsible for evaluation, counseling, training, and effective development of the nursing staff and other ancillary direct reports.
3. Develops, implements and monitors financial and productivity reports as it relates to nursing and ancillary services. Monitors trends and National Service standards in regard to supply and medical equipment and equipment maintenance. These must also be in compliance with Budgetary Standards set by Center Administrator and Directors.
4. Implements, monitors, and reports Quality Assurance functions, infection control, chart audits, and lab quality controls. Works with Operations Manager to monitor and control risk issues.
5. Responsible for the delivery of skilled professional quality nursing care in a manner that promotes member satisfaction; handles member complaints.
6. Functions as an active member of the Center Mgmt. Team will willingness to actively suport the center goals wtihin and outside of the specific area of responsibility.
7. Conducts monthly departmental staff meetings.
8. Contributes innovative ideas to facilitate and improve dept. oeprations and ctr. functions.
9. Perform other duties as assigned/requested by adminstration.
Role: Provides clinical leadership and expertise in a primary care and specialty area and functions as a role model, facilitator, teacher, and resource person to nursing and/or other clinical staff. Requires a current RN license.
Qualifications:
1. Current Registered Nurse Licensure.
2. BS degree in Nursing or management desired.
3. Knowledge of managed care delivery system preferred.
4. 3 to 5 years demonstrated nursing supervisory /management skills preferred.
5. Possess working knowledge of financial and human resources management.
6. Understanding of Medical records.
7. Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, quality improvement, team building, problem solving, and change management.
8. Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills with members, staff & clinicians.
9. Basic computer skills.
10. Full supervisory responsibilities for back office, front office, and ancillary staff, including disciplinary actions.
11. Large functionally diverse clerical/operation organization
12. Collaboratively works with peers to proactively identify and resolve issues.
