Medical Records Analyst

Qualifications: College level courses in a health care related field preferred. Knowledge of quality improvement and quality control techniques and processes. Familiarity with medical records, review and data collection. Strong statistical and data management skills. Proficient with software used in department.


Preferred Qualifications: Significant experience in Medical Records, QM, or similar health care related department or concurrent enrollment in a college accredited RHIT/RHIA program. Medical Terminology. Statistics. Effective communication and customer service skills. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. Experience in abstracting data and reporting data. Experience with JCAHO, DHS and NCQA surveys. Knowledge of medical care practice and procedures preferred. Champs, OPAS, PCIS, RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.


Duties: Coordinates secondary review and quality activities including case screening, agenda preparation, completing meeting minutes, tracking issues and cases and preparation of information for data entry and analysis. Assists in the establishment of quality improvement activities then develops the methodology/system to implement. Conducts concurrent and retrospective chart review utilizing medical staff approved criteria/guidelines. Collects and aggregates data for annual HEDIS data requests. Maintains PMG licensure data base; tracks current status of all personnel licenses to ensure compliance to organizational policies; notifies management monthly regarding personnel status and upcoming renewal dates. Updates database with renewed license information. Executes quality improvement agendas including all aspects of data/information management from collection to display. Analyzes for trends and patterns of practice. Provides resources regarding regulatory and organizational quality requirements. Ensures quality improvement activities comply with federal, state and local regulations and standards. Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.


Notes: May be scheduled two (2) hours before or two (2) hours after posted shift. Start time may vary including holiday shifts per business necessity.
