Special Proc. Tech./Cath Lab

Overview : Banner Good Sam is a MAGNET recognized hospital

Responsible for operation of radiologic equipment and maintaining excellence in radiographic imaging for the purpose of precise documentation during all procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab, to ensure optimal quality care of adult and geriatric patients. This postion receives direction from the Senior Radiologic Technologist or the department supervisor.

Responsibilities :

Responsibly operates all radiographic equipment and assists the physician to obtain the best quality imaging result for each patient. Is knowledgeable of normal and abnormal pathophysiology.

Maintains proper collation and identification of the various forms of imaging archival systems used in the cath lab.

Assists with complete pre and post procedure cath lab and patient set up as required. Maintains proper sterile technique during procedures.

Monitors and records EKG and pressure waveforms during the procedure, demonstrates knowledge of normal and abnormal coronary anatomy and physiology and records key events occurring during procedure. Enters supplies via physiologic computer system.

Responds in emergency situations per ACLS protocol and is fully competent to do so.

Reports equipment malfunctions and documents same immediately. Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, report/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions.

Qualifications :

Registration by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) and a minium of one (1) year of special procedures and/or cardiac cath experience is required. Must be licensed, in the state of Arizona.ACLS certification within the first year of employment,is required.
