Speech Language Pathologist-PRN

Position Summary: 

 

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the assessment of referred patients, ranging in age from 18 years to geriatric who are experiencing medically complex conditions or medical surgical conditions requiring rehabilitation and/or wound care needs. Responsible to provide direct patient care to assess to assess their communicative, swallowing or cognitive disorders to improve their optimal, functional level of independence and potential for rehabilitation.  To establish and administer a treatment program with specific goals determined according to the patients capacity and tolerance under the direction of the Physician.  Educates patients and families in appropriate speech therapy methods.

Position Qualifications:

 

  Minimum Qualifications:

? Ability to project a professional Image.

? Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. 

? Knowledge and experience in the needs of patients ranging in age from 18 to geriatric.

? Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.

? Strong organizational and analytical skills; excellent writing and speaking skills.

? Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.)

? Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.

? Freedom from illegal use of drugs.

? Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

 

  Education and/or Experience: 

Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.  Successful completion of a national exam in speech language pathology, and completion of a nine (9) month clinical fellowship. * at discretion of the Rehab Director. 

 

  Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

Current license for Speech-Language Pathology field in state of employment.  Must maintain current Provider CPR certification throughout employment.
