Position: Club Manager

 



Job Description:

Alamitos Bay Yacht Club is a private sailing facility and clubhouse in Long Beach, CA. The Clubhouse Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the clubhouse facility, including maintaining high standards in all club services and operations while also striving to maximize profitability.

 

Position Requirements:

Education and Experience:

? 4-year college degree required or industry experience equivalent.

? At least 5 years of experience in resort/club management required.

? In-depth knowledge of the following: food and beverage, resort/club operations, club maintenance, service standards and housekeeping.

? Ability to manage staff and work with volunteers.

 

Physical Requirements:

? Flexible and long hours sometimes required.

? Medium work ? Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

? Must have a moderate level of physical fitness.

 

Essential:

? Approach and respond to all encounters with members, guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.

? Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Club standards, with scheduling to vary according to the needs of the Club.

? Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing proper attire and name tag when working.

? Comply at all times with Club standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operation of Club events and sailing programs.

? Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.

? Maintain and increase Club revenue and profitability.

? Monitor and control departmental expenses and payroll.

 

Club Operations:

? Oversee hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of all Clubhouse staff, with assistance of supervisors when appropriate.

? Work with, and monitor for overall performance, all outside contract service providers such as landscaping, caterers, food and beverage concessionaires, and industrial cleaning crews.

? Ensure overall member satisfaction.

? Participate in the development and oversee the implementation of the Club operating budget.

? Maintain communication with all departments of the Club.

? Develop all staff for future advancement.

? Guide and supervise the on-going training program.

? Maintain knowledge and understanding of each service area and see that services are continually executed at the expected level and updated.

? Research and develop new member services.

? Ensure quality standards and procedures are met throughout the Clubhouse.

? Conduct regular Club staff meetings for the purpose of informing, training and inspiring staff.

? Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the entire Clubhouse facility.

? Oversee physical plant to ensure facilities and equipment are in proper condition and good working order.

? Forecast for revenue, payroll expenses, and all other expenses.

? Order equipment, supplies and maintain inventory control for all Food and Beverage.

? Reconcile and approve monthly general ledger and income statements.

? Recommend special projects/promotions and execute them as directed by the Board of Directors.

? Perform daily walk-through inspections and weekly written inspections and follow-up.

? Ensure quarterly written maintenance inspections are completed.

? Answer all guest/member complaints and suggestions.

? Coach, counsel and conduct performance appraisals for employees.

? Enforce all club policies.

? Be an integral part of selling memberships and member retention.

? Attend member functions as needed.

? Participate in required training program as scheduled.

? Participate in public relations events as needed.

? Attend meetings as required by management.

? Perform other duties as required.
