Sr. HR Generalist

Job Description

Job Title: Sr. HR Generalist Department: Human Resources
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Incumbent(s): N/A Date: 8/3/06
1. Summary:
Works directly with Management Team to plan and accomplish goals and to perform a variety of tasks. Functions as on-site Sr HR representation for department. Oversees the administration of Team Member benefits, and handles recruiting for exempt positions. Continually assesses the competitiveness of Team Member benefits against comparable companies and suggests improvements to the Director. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Acts as on-site law expert and consults the Director with all legal issues. Gathers and analyzes market data targeted at continuous improvement support to the Director of HR and performs generalist duties as assigned.

A. % 30 Recruiting, Staffing & Employee Relations
? Works with the Director of HR to determine recruiting methods. Writes & places advertisements.
? Provides supervisors with qualified applicants by analyzing application forms, conducting personal interviews, and processing reference and background checks. Works with supervisors to select the most qualified applicants and processes offer letters on a timely basis.
? Ensures that all new hire employment forms and insurance forms are completed and provided to payroll on a timely basis. Distributes completed requisition forms to relevant supervisors.
? Works with supervisors and staffing agencies to process requests for Temporary workers.
? Periodically conducts wage surveys for exempt positions. Ensures that Job Responsibilities are on file, accurate and up-to-date for exempt positions. Writes new job descriptions where necessary.
? Conducts exit interviews with non-exempt Team Members. Provides information to supervisors.
? Coaches Team Members and offers career guidance to reduce turnover and increase morale. Works with the Director of Human Resources to help Team Members and supervisors resolve work-related issues.
B. % 25 Benefits Administration
? Serves as resident expert in benefits administration. Peforms complex duties to administer benefit programs, such as group life, medical, dental, short-term disability and the 401K. Continuously researches information on benefits to stay abreast of new developments. Provides support to Team Members and Executives. Keeps the Director current with all issues.
? Ensures positive relations with Team Members and insurance providers by acting as a liaison to resolve benefit-related problems and to process changes and claims. Resolves Team Member complaints or refers complex complaints to the insurance provider and follows-up as needed.
? Strives to ensure that Team Members understand benefit programs by regularly generating communication and counseling as situations arise. Distributes materials from carriers and communicates changes. Answers Team Member and insurance carriers' questions on benefits as needed and on a timely basis.
? Arranges information presentations and enrollments. Manages the annual open enrollment each July. Processes changes within deadlines. Serves as the COBRA Administrator for company.
? Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions. Reviews billings for accuracy and forwards to Finance for payment. Maintains confidential records for all Home Office Team Members.
C. % 30 Legal and Tactical
? Keeps current on the new legal issues in the Federal and State HR arenas.
? Stays mindful of acceptable legal practices in the daily work place and diligently enforces policies in a manner consistent with the laws.
? Serves as the Tactical HR leader for Arizona and maintains a constant line of communication with the Director regarding all tactical counseling, documentation and other issues.
? Keeps personnel and Medical files compliant with federal and state laws.
D. % 15 Administrative and Morale- Related
? Assists with special events as requested, such as the FreeLife Convention, the Spirit of FreeLife and the Holiday Event. Assists with monthly Update meetings as needed.
? Works with HR Team to create and manage new employee morale related programs


Minimum Qualifications:
Education Level: Bachelor Degree
* Field of Study: HR or Related Field
Minimum experience required: (years and *field of employment): 5-7 years
* Field of employment: Human Resources with concentration in Benefits or Recruiting.

? Able to represent the company in a professional and positive manner. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and to maintain effective relationships with Team Members. Able to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints with tact and diplomacy.
? Maintains a high degree of confidentiality.
? Well-organized and self-directed. Able to perform duties with minimal direction and independently plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload. Multi-task orientated.
? Able to effectively communicate and present information, both verbally and in writing, to superiors, colleagues, and individuals both inside and outside of the company. Good punctuation, spelling, grammar and attention to detail. Writing skills are crucial.
? In depth understanding of high level recruiting methods.
? In depth understanding of tactical HR practices
? Solid knowledge of federal and state HR laws.
? Knowledge of ADP Totalsource System helpful
? Able to work overtime when needed.
