Client Server Programmer/Analyst (Java)

Infinity Insurance, a national provider of automobile insurance is looking to add a Client Server Programmer/Analyst to our Birmingham, AL corporate office. 

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Formulates and defines system scope and objectives for assigned projects. Prepares detailed specifications for programs (UML). Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation. Has full technical knowledge and responsibility of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming. Understands the business or function for which application is designed. Duties also include instructing, directing and checking the work of other programmer analysts and client/server programming personnel. Responsible for coordinating quality assurance reviews with internal quality testing personnel. Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of team members.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be skilled at mainstream Java software development utilizing current J2EE design patterns. Sun Certified Java 2 Programmer/Developer is requested but not required. Web development experience should include at least one of the following technologies; JSP?s, Servlet?s, and/or EJB?s (HTML experience is required). Working knowledge of XML is important, experience with XSLT and FOP would be beneficial. The ideal candidate would be skilled at developing within J Builder utilizing Ant and CVS. Web-deployment experience should include deployment on one of the following; Apache Tomcat, Sun One Web Server, and/or Web Logic. Oracle, SQL, and Sun Solaris (UNIX) experience would be a plus.
