NETWORK OPERATIONS MANAGER ? IT -EBSCO Industries, Inc. SUMMARY
The Network Operations Manager provides hands-on management and support for worldwide Network Services of 62 sites. Position includes design, development, and implementation of all network infrastructure hardware and software components for a dynamic environment. Will oversee the management of all servers, messaging, LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, EMC storage, security and co-location environments. Will provide service and support to mission critical application systems to insure 100% uptime in a 24X7 environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees and coordinates the daily activities of the network operations team. Management of the Information technology planning, project budgets and project execution for network operation functions. Manages data communication devices, and messaging within the network infrastructure with time critical awareness. Design and implement worldwide infrastructure to improve reliably and performance, reduce cost, and anticipate company growth and acquisitions. Utilize Cisco infrastructure and design. Develop policies and procedures that govern network service and operations; insures proper implementation utilizing industry best practices, change management, and toolsets for managing and monitoring performance across multiple sites. Manages the development of disaster recovery documentation for the organization. Insures that proper change control is in force to insure that best practices are followed. Manages the formal disaster recovery company documentation. Develops and manages company-wide capacity planning, architectural design, and redundancy to insure a stable and technically sound network environment. Manages and maintains backup and recovery strategy that follows organizational retention policies. Insures that formal processes to insure against company loss. Develops business continuity program. Provides senior level leadership to the Information Technology team, assists with mentoring and providing technical guidance to more junior staff members.Develops and recommends capital and expense budgets for Network Services team of the IT department including recommending purchases and budget expenditures. Designs and develops service level agreements with key business leaders and mission critical system; provide method for managing and providing accountability. Manages all purchases related to Information Technology infrastructure and projects. Supports and proactively manages web hosted platform. Manages formal documentation for the Network Services team of Information Technology including all backup and recover, disaster recovery, business process and procedures, diagrams, and network related inventory. Works with outside consultants and vendors to gain industry knowledge and secure hardware and software necessary for projects. Vendor management. Perform additional duties as directed by Director of Information Technology. INTERACTION
This position will interact closely with the Director of Information Technology, departmental personnel, related Company staff members and external parties.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE
B.S./B.A. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications or equivalent experience. 7+ years experience with comprehensive understanding of network architecture and infrastructure working in a high-availability network environment. 3+ years managerial experience in Information Technology. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
? Hands-on experience in core technologies including Cisco security, switching, routing, wireless.
? Strength in core technologies to support all aspects of a multi-site environment for operating systems, core support systems, email, virus, mass storage, and co-location site.
? Direct management and supervisory experience in an Information Technology environment.
? Experience developing policies and procedures supporting network operations management.
? Experience developing and implementing change control programs for network operations environment
? Comprehensive understanding of Active Directory.
? Experience supporting the development of a disaster recovery model.
? Broad understanding of LAN and WAN, SAN and NAS environment, and enterprise backup solutions.
? Comprehensive understanding of the various technology architectures including TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, LAN, WAN, and VPN.
? Advanced level skills in Windows OS platform including Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Exchange 2003, and Microsoft SQL. Cisco certification desired.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Strong interpersonal, problem solving, troubleshooting and customer service abilities.
?Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with a keen attention to detail.
? Professional demeanor; team player orientation. Ability to interface with internal and external parties.
? Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision while exercising discretion, independent judgment and confidentiality.
? Hands on, energetic and motivated self-starter.
? Ability to be on-call beyond normal business hours and on weekends.
? Ability to drive and travel on behalf of the Company.
Position will be located at EBSCO's international headquarters in Birmingham, AL. Interested candidates must live in this area or be willing to relocate to this area.
