VP Information Technology

As the most senior member of the Information Technology department, the Vice President Information Technology leads, plans, directs, and administers the information and data integrity of the Credit Union?s information technology and computer operations functions.  Responsibilities include development of information security programs designed to safeguard member and Credit Union information; reviewing and assessing industry trends and emerging technologies; implementing advancements where appropriate and advantageous to the Credit Union?s business needs; and providing strategic direction for the Credit Union?s data center, production scheduling functions, help desks, enterprise data communication networks, computer program development, and computer systems operations.  Responsible for the development and monitoring of the Credit Union?s Information Technology budget and strategic plan.  Negotiates with and manages vendor partners to achieve a high level of product delivery and support at a reasonable expense to the Credit Union.  Additionally, the Vice President Information Technology is responsible for all Information Technology policies, procedures, and related training programs.  As a member of the Credit Union?s Senior Management Team, the Vice President Information Technology attends Supervisory Committee meetings and attends Credit Union Board meetings where appropriate.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Controlling:    30%

? Monitors system performance in all data processing areas through the use of various system reports and feedback from all areas of the Credit Union;

? Ensures timely corrections of deficiencies, using internal or external resources, to assure continuous optimum systems utilization and performance;

? Provides periodic project and operations status reports to Executive Management;

? Maintains the integrity of all electronic and optical books and records of the Credit Union, including review of computerized and manual systems, information processing equipment, and software for acquisition, storage, and retrieval; and

? Maintains the definition of the strategic direction of all information processing, communication systems, and operations.

 

Directing:    30%

? Ensures proper and efficient scheduling and completion of jobs and processes in all relevant areas;

? Recruits, selects, trains, motivates, disciplines, conducts performance evaluations and schedules staff;

? Conducts periodic staff meetings and training programs;

? Drafts and presents periodic reports and recommendations;

? Establishes goals and work plans for department and monitors progress toward meeting those goals;

? Solves complex problems by providing solutions, keeping in mind quality service and Credit Union goals and objectives;

? Coordinates planning activities and controls implementation of system enhancements or conversion in all relative areas;

? Serves in absence of senior management, providing leadership and direction;

? Represents Nevada Federal at various internal and external functions to promote the Credit Union; and

? Provides overall management and definition of all computers and data communication activities within the Credit Union.

 

Planning:  30%

? Plans for future expansion or systems adjustment to meet future Credit Union information technology needs;

? Drafts and proposes department budget and monitors expenditures for assigned expense items;

? Makes recommendations to executive management for new methods or means to maximize systems utilization and improve systems performance and efficiency;

? Is responsible for the strategic planning and direction of the Information Technology department; and

? Creates, maintains, and periodically tests (at least once annually) an effective and efficient Data Processing Disaster Recovery Plan.

 

Organization:    10%

? Serves as a member of the Senior Management Team, providing leadership and direction for the Credit Union;

? Coordinates with other areas of the Credit Union to ensure proper communication and procedures on all issues related to Credit Union information technology;

? Ensures availability of complete and up-to-date systems documentation and procedures manuals to all areas of the Credit Union;

? Represents the Credit Union data processing and information technology to outside entities such as vendors, examiners, auditors, and support companies;

? Coordinates and oversees the Business Resumption activities for the Credit Union, ensuring compliance with any regulatory requirements; and

? Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

? Thorough knowledge of modern managerial principles, practices, and techniques.

? Thorough knowledge in data communication analysis and planning;

? Thorough knowledge in data processing operations functions and schedules;

? Thorough knowledge of the software programming development life cycle and maintenance process;

? Thorough knowledge in local and wide area networking technologies;

? Knowledge of and management of internet technologies;

? Working knowledge of data processing disaster recovery planning and documentation;

? Skill in the operation of a personal computer to include Internet/Intranet, operating system, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, calendar, and scheduling software;

? Strong leadership and organizational skills;

? Ability to analyze problems and opportunities, identify and evaluate alternatives, and develop sound, effective recommendations;

? Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate achievement of goals, objectives, and work plans;

? Ability to organize, direct, and motivate a department and personnel in a complex and dynamic environment;

? Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;

? Ability to maintain regularly scheduled attendance; and

? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.

 Education/Experience

A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor?s degree in management information systems, computer science, or closely related field, plus six years progressively responsible data processing experience in a full service financial institution.  Four years in supervisory position required.
