Mechanic IV: Appliance Repair Tech IV
Background
Opportunity at the Reagan Test Site (RTS) located in the exotic and tropical island of Kwajalein in the Republic of Marshall Islands. Reagan Test Site (RTS) complex includes a variety of radar, telemetry, and other instrumentation and communication systems. This location is a beautiful, tropical setting in the central Pacific that offers year-round water sports and many other recreational activities. Kwajalein is similar to most American communities with schools, hospital, stores and all public works. Crime is virtually non-existent and so is traffic, private automobiles are not authorized and bicycles are the primary mode of transportation.

Mechanic IV: Appliance Repair Technician IV (Full Time /Unaccompanied)
Responsibilities:
Responsible for repairing, installing, adjusting, or maintaining industrial food service equipment and/or corrective maintenance to auxiliary equipment and systems. Performs log keeping on operating equipment and systems. Participates in tag out programs and documents work on quality assurance forms. Conducts acceptance inspections on controlled material. Verifies the accuracy of system diagrams and drawings. Uses precision measuring instruments and performs dimensional checks. Sets up and operates oxyacetylene equipment, welding equipment and machine tools. Removes damaged or broken studs. Removes and replaces shaft bearings, and dials in shafts. Operates and tests electrical and electronic equipment. Develops solutions to a variety of problems ranging from moderate to complex. Performs assigned system tasks/efforts to include government directed work schemes under general direction. Specific Responsibilities include: Adherence to safety procedures. Application of intermediate technical math (algebra, geometry, number sequencing), conduct tests to locate mechanical system malfunction. Inspect machinery or equipment to determine adjustments or repairs needed. Install equipment or attachments on machinery related structures. Lubricate machinery, equipment or parts. Read and understand operating manuals. Read and understand service/repair manuals, blueprints, schematics and technical drawings. Order or purchase supplies, materials, or equipment. Maintain repair records. Test electronic or electrical circuit connections. Analyze operation of malfunctioning electrical or electronic equipment. Install or replace meters, regulators, or related measuring/control devices. Use control or regulating devices to adjust or maintain industrial machinery. Adjust or set mechanical controls or components. Use precision measuring devices in mechanical repair work. Position, align, or level machines, equipment or structures. Repair or adjust measuring or control devices. Align or adjust clearances of mechanical components or parts. Set up and operate variety of machine tools. Apply properties of metals for repair or fabrication activities. Repair sheet metal products; cut, bend, or thread pipe for gas, air, hydraulic or water lines. Apply pneumatic, plumbing, hydraulics electrical and pressure vessel principles. Move or lift heavy objects. Obtain information from individuals; read work orders, instructions, formulas, or processing charts and conduct performance testing. Develop maintenance schedules. Overhaul, install industrial machinery or equipment, and install industrial machinery or related heavy equipment. Work is performed in both a shop setting and outside in various types of housing, food service facilities, and various other applications. Employee should be able to climb three continuous flights of stairs carrying hand and/or power tools in order to perform maintenance as necessary. Work is performed in both a shop setting and outside on various types of job/construction sites. Works under the supervision of the Appliance Shop Supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required, plus minimum of 10 years technical full time work experience directly related to the above functions. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and technical education in appliance repair desired. Must have the ability to communicate in the English language effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be able to obtain a valid USAKA driver?s license. Prefer technical education in the mechanical/electrical systems and controls trade. Experience with programmable logic controllers and human/mechanical interface devices a plus.
