Accounting Manager - BPG

The Benefit Plans Group (BPG) within Protective Life serves as the voluntary benefit marketer for Protective Life Insurance Corporation.  BPG is dedicated to providing insightful, intelligent, and innovative ways to meet specific needs of the voluntary benefits market. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the following:
Creating the annual budget, monitoring the monthly expenses related to BPG operations, providing variance and budget analysis.
Assisting with the creation of the annual business plan for BPG; updating the plan and creating the monthly and quarterly analysis of progress toward the business plan goals.
Formulating, distributing and file maintenance of weekly worksite case result reporting to be distributed to agents on application processing status and participation results. 
Creating and maintaining a data store of agent production history, including any special arrangements and their ultimate results.
Tracking, calculating and managing periodic payments to vendors and marketing organizations under various contract terms, including measuring benchmark requirements and tracking notification requirements. 
Due diligence certification, contracting and on-going management of the TPA?s that administer varying aspects of Benefit Plans Group business.
Acting as a resource and supporting all BPG management and operations with general ledger and accounts payable accounting entry and account analysis.
Monitoring corporate adherence to Sox, GLB, HIPAA

 

Qualifications: 
Bachelors degree in Accounting with minimum of 3 years insurance related experience.
Knowledge of insurance accounting principles is required. 
Must be familiar with HIPAA, Sarbanes Oxley and GLB rules and regulations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Working knowledge of MS Office software programs.
Must be able to professionally interact with all levels of the employees, agents and policyholders.
