Director of Production

imagistic, an Internet software and services company in Westlake
Village, CA, is looking for a Director of Production. The following will
detail our expectations for this person. Only people with 3+ years of Project Management experience in the Interent arena need apply. If you do not meet these requirements we will not consider your application.


Expectations:

 

Project Knowledge
You must be the most organized and informed person in the company. You need to know all aspects and issues relating to every project we have.To do this you need to make sure that the each project?s PM is
keeping you informed about the issues, problems, potential problems, etc. And then, you will need to be able to explain, defend, and discuss the status of each project with our COO.

 

Resourcing & Scheduling
You need to see the big picture of production with respect to resourcing,
scheduling, deliverables, R&D, and internal projects. Some crunches are due to the realities of production, and some are due to bad planning and bad thinking. Your job is to eliminate the problems that could rise
from bad planning and thinking. Further, during slow times, internal
projects and R&D need to be organized and managed.

 

Client Management and Scope
You need to know all projects well enough to know when a client?s request is out of scope. In these cases, you need to understand imagistic?s philosophy of budgets, time, and client service, in order to guide the project manager. You also need to be aware of potential personality conflicts between staff, clients, and developers, and be able to identify and manage situations where tension does develop between staff, clients, and, or, resources. And, in all cases, you must be proactive in troubleshooting these issues before they reach a crisis level.

 

Lead, Train and Manage the Staff
We expect you to know the people who work here. You should know their particular strengths and weaknesses, especially with respect to how to best staff each project, as well as, how to most effectively challenge and support them. You must lead by example with respect to taking care of clients; managing and solving problems; being organized, detailed and thorough; and your overall attitude. Part of this is sitting back and listening; part of this is about teaching, guiding and supporting; part of this is allowing the staff to vent, hearing and acknowledging them and then leading them to resolutions. You will help the staff find their passions within our company, help them grow, and help them be better at what they do; all while guiding and training them in our processes and organizational structures. Adjacent to this set of responsibilities is to help find, and recruit new people for our company as both employees and as contractors.

 

This position has tremendous authority and tremendous responsibility. It also has a very high bar for success because that last person in this
position was the COO, the person to whom you will report, and we think he did a pretty damn good job at it. We welcome candidates who believe they can succeed in this position.

 

An important note ? we are in Westlake Village, about 45 minutes outside of what most people consider Los Angeles. That?s without traffic. With traffic at peak times it could take 1-2 hours to get to and from the
office.
