NIC Inc. is a provider of Internet-based, electronic government services that help governments use the Internet to reduce costs and provide a higher level of service to businesses and citizens.

We enter into contracts with governments and on their behalf design, build and operate Internet-based portals. These portals consist of Web sites and applications that we build, which allow businesses and citizens to access government information online and complete transactions, including applying for a permit, renewing a license or filing a report.

Our unique business model allows us to reduce our government clients' financial and technology risks and obtain revenue by sharing in the fees governments generate from electronic government services. Our clients benefit because they gain a centralized, customer-focused presence on the Internet. Internet & eCommerce Developer

Arkansas Information Consortium (AIC), a subsidiary of NIC [Nasdaq:EGOV], manages the state of Arkansas Web portal, www.arkansas.gov. AIC develops, maintains and hosts eGovernment sites and applications. AIC is located in Little Rock and is seeking a qualified Senior Developer to join our fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Duties:Design and Develop complex Internet and e-commerce applications Maintain existing applications Work with customers and other staff to help determine project specifications Adhere to HIPAA requirements on confidential information

Requirements:Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline Minimum of two years' experience developing WWW applications and websites Minimum 1 year of Unix experience and/or 1 year of Windows NT experience Minimum 1 year experience with Java technologies In-depth familiarity with the Internet and WWW applications Following knowledge a plus: HTML, Linux, JDBC, SQL, TCP/IP, database design, networking protocols or mainframe emulation protocols, Oracle, Hibernate, Spring, Struts, or UML Strong organizational and prioritization skills Self-motivated and creative Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
