The Senior Software Engineer participates in the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing and modification of computer systems and programs based on and related to system design specifications at YellowPages.com. He/she is expected to be highly skilled and proficient in the theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge related to computer systems, analysis, programming and software engineering while working independently and without close supervision.

Senior Software Engineer is expected to deliver results and innovation in user experience, modern interfaces, web system architecture, and information delivery. Also, he/she will be expected to be able to work well in a team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Define, design, and implement solutions for high-performance
systems using web and other emerging technologies
* Develop prototypes rapidly for evaluation and validation purposes
* Document code and system designs
* Provide application support and systems maintenance
* Perform research and analysis and write reports
* Lead and mentor junior staff members
* Play an active role in discussing the evolution of the
product
* Develop deep expertise in multiple areas
* Keep abreast of latest technologies and trends

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This is not a management position; however, senior-level staff members are expected to mentor junior staff, provide technical guidance for 2-3 people and demonstrate leadership skills.


Qualifications:

* Minimum of 4 years* experience in web technologies and
interface
development
* High level of proficiency in basic computer skills with a passion for
technology
* A commitment to continuing education to strengthen skills and
broaden expertise
* Strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities
* Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance
* Dedicated to achieving project schedules and milestones
* Ability to work in a team environment with aggressive deadlines
and multiple priorities while staying a team player
* Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong
interpersonal skills
* Strong attention to detail
* Self starter able to work with minimal supervision

Special Skills/Qualifications:

* Expertise with HTML, CSS, Javascript, DHTML, XHTML
* Expert knowledge of cross-platform / cross-browser Document
Object Model (DOM) / Dynamic HTML nuances
* Strong experience with Java, XML, and Linux
* Working knowledge of browser and plug-in detection and
manipulation.
* Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator (or other image
optimization software).
* Fluent in multiple programming languages and ability to learn
new ones easily
* Familiarity with AJAX and other "emerging" presentation
technologies.
* Experience with SQL
* Strong grasp of information layout, web design, color
coordination, and other design-related concepts
* Experience developing rich, interactive interfaces

Desired:
* Human factors training
* Experience with Flash
* Experience with Python, PHP

Education:
* Bachelor*s Degree in Computer Science or related field is required
