Position: INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE SETTER


Business Area: Gambro Plant Opelika


Division: Dialyzer Division


Reports to: Production Supervisor, Opelika


 


Basic Function:


The primary responsibilities of this position include performing manufacturing procedures and associated documentation of injection molding of plastic parts and assembly of these parts in accordance with written procedures. The position is also responsible for further enhancement of professional behaviors such as accountability, responsibility, quality ownership, team cooperation, and initiative. Performs as a multi-skilled team member, serves specialized areas, and plays a significant role in process improvement and facilitation. Trains new employees.


 


Candidate will perform project related tasks such as establishing procedures, protocols and training material; participate in validation of tools and qualification of equipment. This candidate also proposes, supports and participates in improvement projects.


* Due to the nature of this position, a very high degree of initiative, teamwork and communication are required.


 


Organization Location:


This positions responsibility includes the active participation within the start-up or operation of the new dialyzer production plant in Opelika.


Candidate has to manage a knowledge transfer processes in close cooperation with all related functions. To gather experience in the production process and technology a temporary stay in Germany (+/- 15 months) might be required.


 


 


RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


·  Performs set-ups on complex automated systems such as injection molding machines and assembly robots.


·  Personally responsible for knowing and following safety procedures for associated equipment.


·  Identifies defective materials and alerts team members to unusual trends for corrective action.


·  Personally responsible for knowing and following quality procedures for manufactured parts.


·  Personally performing quality checks for manufactured parts.


·  Works with and assists engineers, buyers and planners in resolving quality, production process issues, and raw material issues.

·  Capable of minor troubleshooting procedures and initiating appropriate support function interventions.


·  Responsible for utilizing resources, both their own and others, to meet production goals.


·  Works directly with other team members in new and existing process validation, documentation, and implementation.  Assists engineers in prototyping, specialty builds, testing, validating, and implementing new materials, designs and process improvements.  Records data when necessary.  May assist in the design of fixtures.


·  Identifies potential bottlenecks in the flow process and takes action to prevent reoccurrence.


·  Performs training of new employees.


·  Accountable for learning and applying computer skills, including PC skills in the Windows environment.


·  Able to apply planning and allocation skills.


·  Maintain confidential information as such.


 


minimum Knowledge Required/Qualifications:


 


·  Qualified candidates require a high school diploma or equivalent and have advanced understanding of manufacturing operating procedures in the field of injection molding and part assembly.


·  Requires team cooperation and ability to prioritize workload to meet customer demands.  Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills with peers, supervisors, customers, and support groups. 


·  Ability to regularly lift and/or move 40 pounds and stand for long periods of time.


·  Requires basic knowledge and understanding of mold design and construction.


·  Requires extensive and practical knowledge of different materials and their workability, especially in the field of thermoplastics.


·  Ability to work effectively and efficiently as an individual contributor, team member, and leader.


·  Safety conscious, following safety rules, policies, and procedures.


·  Demonstrated strong problem solving skills.


·  Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
