This role is critical to achieving Plant OEE and Net Availability goals through improved equipment reliability as a result of providing maintenance plans and schedules for good stewardship and proper asset allocation of the maintenance manpower resources. 

 

Objective

 

The primary objective of the Maintenance Planner is to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Maintenance workforce, service companies and contractors.  This will be accomplished by providing the employees with detailed job plans, including technical specifications, machinery history, parts and tools lists, and safety procedures in a very organized fashion. The Maintenance Planner is also responsible to provide all the necessary information to ensure that all work is completed in a safe, efficient and timely manner and in compliance with environmental requirements.

 Prerequisites

 

Should have a post secondary level education, preferably in the engineering field.

Lacking a post secondary degree, then a significant experience in the Lime or a comparable industry would be required. (Should be working toward an approved accredited degree)

Should have 3-5 years of heavy industrial experience.

Formal training in the Maintenance Planning and Scheduling function is desired.

Be well versed in the use of a CMMS system.

Be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Be very skilled in the use of MS Word and MS Excel.

Experience with MS Project and MS Access would be a plus.

Requires strong leadership skills.

Must be a self-starter.

Maintenance supervisory experience would be beneficial in this role.

Understanding the lime manufacturing process would be an asset.

 

 Duties and Responsibilities

 

Clearly defines job scopes to be performed, complete with cost and resource estimates.

Plans, schedules and coordinates all preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.

Improves the content and quality of information on work requests.

Develops detailed job plans with all the work sequences involved to adequately complete the repairs as well as equipment downtime and man-hours required.

Provides a parts list with reference numbers and exact location for each work order and ensures that all required are in stock before scheduling the job.

Ensures all technical specifications and special instructions are available to the Supervisor and craftsmen.

Ensures that CMMS software data files are complete and current.

May assist with Stores and Purchasing functions.

Identifies, analyzes and reviews repetitive problems with those responsible for corrections.

Maintains a current backlog ? ready and total.

Submits a list of all ?ready backlog? with priorities to Production Department on Tuesdays for review.

Reviews the ?ready backlog? on Thursday with Production and initiates next weeks schedule with the input.

Develops a weekly schedule and assists the Supervisor in determining priorities.

Schedules a full days work for each craftsman.

Publishes daily and weekly schedules.

Closes out work orders daily and inputs actual hours.

Maintains equipment histories in an accurate and timely manner.

Coordinates availability of manpower, parts, materials and equipment.

Works with Storeroom on job material kitting.

Arranges the purchase of non-stock parts as required.

Arranges the purchase of special services as required.

Follows up on Purchase Order deliveries for Work Orders.

Maintains an awareness of spare parts inventory.

Oversees the development of equipment Bills of Materials.

Arranges the purchase of spare parts for new installations.

Develops and publishes major equipment outage schedules using MS Project.

Develops cost estimates for major jobs and track actual versus budgeted spending

Maintains records, charts and indexes.

Posts daily, weekly and monthly KPI?s and trends.

Reports on performance versus goals.

Assists the Maintenance Manager with the preparation of the annual budget.

Assists the Maintenance Manager with the monitoring and cost control of the annual budget.
