General Description

 

This role is critical to achieving Mine OEE and Net Availability goals through improved equipment reliability as a result of providing day-to-day leadership, maintenance plans and schedules, coaching, directing and supervising of maintenance crafts to ensure efficient execution and a high level of quality assurance on all maintenance jobs. Activities are completed in such a way that safe work procedures are used, reliability is maximized and costs are minimized.  Meet all CLC guidelines for planning and maintenance as required by Operational Excellence.  Meet required kiln feed production levels for daily operations at or below budged costs.  Develop the human resources at the hourly employee level to provide stability for future operations, as well, as workforce bench-strength through cross training.  Communicate daily the operational and maintenance issues with the Mine Manager.

 

Objective

 

The primary objective of the Maintenance/Production Supervisor is to improve the efficiency and productivity of the Maintenance workforce, production workforce, service companies and contractors.  This will be accomplished by providing the employees with strong leadership, direction and coaching. Efficient execution of the daily and weekly schedule will provide a high level of resource utilization, improved equipment availability, quality assurance of jobs completed and an improved level of work habits. The incumbent will work closely with the Storeroom in order to optimize the spare parts inventory. The Maintenance/Production Supervisor ensures that all work performed is done so in a safe and efficient manner.

 Prerequisites

 

Must have a technical degree from an accredited school.

Should have 3-5 years of heavy industrial experience.

Formal training in Mechanical or Electrical function is desired.

Be well versed in the use of a CMMS system.

Be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Be very skilled in the use of MS Word and MS Excel.

Experience with MS Project would be a plus.

Requires strong leadership skills.

Must be a self-starter.

Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management.

Maintenance supervisory experience is essential in this role.

Understanding the lime manufacturing process would be an asset.

 

 Duties and Responsibilities

 

Facilitates corporate EH&S core initiatives at the mine site.

Actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety and environment compliance at the mine site.

Proactively demonstrate core values and establish safety and environmental standards for all mining related activities.

Responsible for the development of hourly employees, to ensure that competent resources are in place to operate mining and maintenance operations.

Completes hourly employee performance evaluations.

Provides safety task training and other relevant cross training initiatives required at the mine site.

Communicate hourly employees performance highlights to Mine Manager.

Scope, plan, schedule and coordinate all preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.

Develops job plans and a parts list for each work order and ensures that all required parts are available before the job is scheduled.

Maintains a current backlog ? ready and total.

Publishes daily and weekly schedules.

Maintains equipment histories in an accurate and timely manner.

Works with storeroom on job material kiting and arranges purchases of non-stock parts and special services as required.

Follows up on purchase orders deliveries for work orders.

Develops and publishes major equipment outage schedules.

Develops cost estimates for major equipment outage schedules.

Develops cost estimates for major jobs and tracks actual versus budget spending.

Maintains records, posts daily, weekly and monthly KPI?s and trends.

Assists Mine Manager in development of annual budget.

Ensures efficient and timely completion of P.M. Inspections.

Ensures efficient and timely completion of Corrective Maintenance Work Orders.

Responds and completes Emergency Work Orders in a timely manner.

Continually devises ways to improve productivity and efficient use of all resources.

Supervises and directs Maintenance contractors working on the plant site as required.

Conducts visits to all jobs following the completion by craftsmen to ensure quality control.

Conducts equipment inspections and field investigations when required.

Reviews equipment performance with Operations Group when required.

Provides detailed and accurate feedback in a timely manner.

Ensures that all technical training and development needs are provided to subordinates.

The incumbent will ensure motivation of employees through proper coaching, delegation, participation, recognition and follow-up of suggestions and ideas.

Provides constructive feedback as required to maintain a high level of professionalism within the group.

Proactively pursues solutions to problem areas of employee performance such as absenteeism, discipline, etc.

Administers the Collective Agreement as it pertains to subordinates.

Administers disciplinary action as required.

Reviews performance of subordinates with each individual.Duties and Responsibilities - Continued

 

Facilitates safety meetings on a regular basis.

Ensures the safety of subordinates through safe work practices, motivation and proper communication.

Controls vacation schedule.

Increase productivity of hourly employee through better efficiencies.

Increase applicable employee survey scores related to training and job performance/satisfaction ratings.

Decrease employee turnover.

Meet required kiln feed production levels for daily operations at or below budgeted costs.

Ensures subordinates are aware and prepared for jobs at least one day in advance.

Ensures all technical specifications and special instructions are available to the craftsmen.

Ensures all technical specifications are understood and adhered to by the craftsmen.

Participates in Daily and Weekly Planning Meetings.

Achieve mine OEE and Net Availability goals through improved equipment reliability as a result of providing maintenance plans and schedules that allow for good stewardship and proper asset allocation of the maintenance resources.

Ensures all materials used on jobs are properly charged from Stores and to the correct job.

Ensures all man-hours are correctly charged to proper jobs.

Provides technical assistance to operations groups and to subordinates.

Must be knowledgeable in the operation of plant equipment and process flow.

Ensures the availability of proper tools for craftsmen.

Keeps all maintenance vehicles clean and safe at all times.

Deals with suppliers for troubleshooting or upgrading of plant equipment.

Being knowledgeable in the use of Vibration Analysis Equipment would be an asset.

May be involved in arranging the purchase of non-stock parts as required.

May be involved in arranging the purchase of special services as required.

Maintains an awareness of spare parts inventory.

Provides input and detailed feedback for the development of equipment Bills of Materials.

Assists the Mine Manager with the preparation of the annual budget.
