Manufacturing Engineer
A leading manufacturer of industrial and agricultural equipment has an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer. The position reports to the Manager of Engineering for this privately held company located in central Alabama near the capital of Montgomery. Someone with a very strong background with tooling and fixture design, to include stamping, deep draw, bending, rolling, forming, press-brake, hydraulic and mechanical presses is desirable. The company is non union at all locations.
Specifically, the position is responsible for comprehensive engineering support through trouble-shooting engineering designs, support prototype and manufacturing processes, tooling design, recommending changes and improvements in procedures, machining parts, mig welding of carbon steel, bill of materials and supporting various procurement requirements. In addition, the successful candidate will provide process improvement recommendations and lean manufacturing expertise.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Confers with vendors to determine product specification and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts. Researches, designs and develops tools, engines, machines, controls, equipment and mechanical processes. Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs. Confers with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, etc. to facilitate production processes. Knowledgeable of basic concepts, principles, practices and established procedures Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required with three to five years experience.
2. Be very familiar with tool design, Pro-E or CAD, progressive manufacturing techniques, mig welding, robotic welding, deep draw, hydraulic and press brake forming, powder coat painting; CNC machining; maintenance and capital budget responsibility.
3. Have a working knowledge of Welding, CNC Machinery, including various presses, mills and lathes working with A-36 Carbon steel and other metals.
4. The candidate should also be experienced in lean manufacturing, process optimization, and understand the documentation required for ISO Certification.
5. Must be proficient with MS Office Suite including, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project and integrated manufacturing systems.
6. Establish operating and project budgets and effectively manage them. Also, develop and manage a yearly capital appropriation program budget.
