Buckner & Associates has been retained to conduct a confidential search assignment to recruit a Plant Manager, Assembly & Materials for a division of a Fortune 50 corporation. Our client is the world?s largest provider of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration solutions with operations in 172 countries. This career opportunity is based in their Collierville, TN facility, which is the world?s largest manufacturing facility of its kind.
Basic Function
Direct all assembly and materials operations in the Collierville, TN facility. Plan, organize, staff, and control manufacturing, in order to achieve short- and long-range goals in terms of schedule reliability, quality improvements, expense control, and productivity improvements. Responsible for leading product process and service-oriented multi-disciplined teams to produce high-quality products with competitive costs and lead times. Develop manufacturing into a competitive advantage. Prepare and manage expense plans and capital budgets for programs undertaken.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in engineering or business with a minimum of 10 years of related experience. A graduate degree in a related discipline is highly desirable. The position requires excellent analytical and organizational skills, as well as strategic leadership and communication skills. Creative approaches to problem resolution and the ability to influence individuals and groups in terms of implementing change is essential. Demonstrated negotiation skills with major supply agreements, effectively leading cross-functional and multi-organizational teams, and experience in a union environment. Accomplishments in leading business process improvement efforts with specific and measurable results. Understanding the building of effective supplier and logistics networks with strong business and financial skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
? Plans and directs the improved and balanced utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and manpower to optimize company growth capabilities and plant performance.
? Directs, implements, and maintains manufacturing plans, policies, and programs to improve quality, delivery time, and lower overall costs in the fabrication areas of the Plant.
? Optimizes the balanced use of plant assembly and materials resources: plant, equipment, inventories, and people. Continuously improves methods, processes, and facilities by addition, modification, or replacement in order to raise productivity, improve return on investment, and achieve lower costs with full regard for the health, safety, and well-being of employees.
? Prepares and administers suitable budgets and adequate expense accounts to ensure Company profitability and control plant materials and assembly costs; develops and conducts cost improvement and profit improvement programs.
? Contributes to the technological leadership of the Company by participating in product planning activities and by reviewing new product designs and proposals for assigned products to assure that manufacturing considerations have been incorporated and that full advantage of manufacturing possibilities has been taken. Evaluates and oversees implementation of innovative technology to improve return on investment and achieve lower costs.
? Staffs the organization to be continually prepared to implement necessary plans to meet the Plant and Company?s objectives. Provides the foresight and initiates the required organizational changes whenever objectives, goals, and plans must change. Accepts responsibility for utilizing the full potential of each manager and individual contributor at all times, and by careful and dynamic organizational planning, develops specialists and managers competent enough to make the most of opportunities afforded to the Company.
? Establishes and maintains effective communications with all plant employees regarding company and plant objectives, goals, plans, and programs so as to permit and encourage the individual to identify areas of mutual interest. Inspires in each employee the desire to perform as a team member of the organization, and obtain from each the voluntary acceptance of the responsibilities that go with the work assignment.
? Formulates and recommends to senior leadership both long- and short-range objectives, goals, and policies for the business in terms of product costs, delivery cycles, quality, manpower requirements, facilities, and other such subjects which may have a major impact on the profits and growth of the Plant or the Company.
? Ensures schedule reliability within the unit. Organizes and manages resources to achieve requisite plant production levels.
? Identifies and implements best practices to achieve manufacturing excellence throughout the facility.
? Ensures effective Environmental Health and Safety processes and programs in compliance with company and corporate standards as well as applicable regulations and legislation.
? Supports the development and implementation of manufacturing strategies based on lean production principles, supply chain management, ACE, and IDS.
? Provides leadership in establishing positive and productive relationships between and among salary support and hourly associates. Fosters a positive relationship with labor union leaders, provides guidance and direction regarding employee relations issues as necessary and/or appropriate.
? Establishes a favorable community reputation and sense of community responsibility commensurate with the goals of the Plant and the community.
? Meets or exceeds objectives of asset management as well as effective management of obsolescence costs.
Compensation
The targeted compensation for this position is a base salary of $125,000 to $160,000 per year, plus a management incentive bonus.
