Smelter Supervisor

Major Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have a critical role as a key member of the smelter production team and will report directly to the Senior Supervisor of the assigned area. The candidate must hold safety as a core value at work and off the job and support the "Zero & Beyond" philosophy. This individual will lead approximately 36 employees and has production accountability for the safe production in assigned area. The successful candidate will assign, supervise and review work of assigned work unit(s). Will be responsible for opening and closing work orders and implement production plans according to approved schedule(s). Will be responsible for entering and approving time, conducting performance evaluations for subordinate staff, train and lead work unit(s) in safe work practices and procedures. Will administer and support the rules, policies and procedures of the Guiding Principles and Code of Ethics. Will actively participate in QFZ @ Work initiatives and lead subordinates in QFZ @ Work. Must lead a quality daily tailgate meeting focused on the days tasks and enrollment in Zero and Beyond. Communicate the effect of QFZ @ Work efforts on cost and consult SME regarding improvements.

Minimum Requirements:
- Education and or experience equivalent to a High School diploma or GED, supplemented by advanced leadership training or education up to or including a Bachelors degree in a closely related area.
- Five years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
- METALS Training must be completed within 6 months of accepting the position.
- Strong interpersonal skills and active team player.
- Strong computer skills (MIMS, Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, deadlines and fast paced environment.
- Capacity to handle sensitive, confidential and privileged information discreetly.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Smelting processes is preferred.
- A strong background (5-10 years of experience) in industrial/manufacturing is a plus including supervisory or lead experience.
- Skilled at developing mentoring relationships.
- Experienced at analyzing trends of the process with the use of QFZ tools.

Criteria/Conditions (specific background and skills):
- Must be able to work in an OSHA regulated environment including exposure to extreme heat, chemicals, fumes or airborne particles. Required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see. Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 lbs) during the course of the workday.
