Associate (Database Mgmt., Communications Coord. & Administrative)
The Associate, Site Development supports operational communications between the National Writing Project and its network of university-based writing project sites. This position is a primary point of contact for NWP site directors and university administrative staff in using the NWP web-based data gathering, information and management systems and provides orientation and coaching to this dynamic user population. Housed within the NWP Site Development team, this position works closely with unit directors and managers across the organization to plan for collection, analysis, reporting, and access of data by NWP staff, the national NWP network, and the general public. This position is a key member of the NWP Annual Site Review team, reporting to the Manager of Site Development.
Responsibilities
? Provides intensive technical assistance to staff of over 195 NWP local sites as they report required program, financial, and contact data to NWP
? Manages flow and quality of data through multiple systems including stand-alone databases, relational databases, and web-access systems
? Oversees data management and assures quality of data related to NWP sites, site leaders, and program leaders
? Joins cross-unit teams working on database development and implementation
? Organizes and delivers training for NWP staff and site leaders in the use of new and existing databases and online submission systems
? Designs, prepares and distributes data reports to multiple audiences from NWP staff to outside vendors to public website visitors, for example, directories, rosters, and mailings lists
? Manages the intake of site funding applications for the Annual Review, currently in hard and electronic formats, in transition to an online submission environment
? Supports the organization?s process of expanding the national network of local sites, including managing potential-site applications, responding to inquiries, and maintaining databases
? Takes on special projects as assigned by managers of Site Development and National Programs
? Supervises students and temporary staff
Requirements and Qualifications
? Bachelor?s degree in a related field
? 3 years related work experience
? Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences
? Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and familiarity with web-based and server-based environments
? Familiarity with a variety of operating systems and networking approaches
? Experience managing, evaluating, and analyzing data
? Excellent problem-solving skills
? Ability to collaborate in team environments and with varied constituencies
? Interest in the mission of the National Writing Project
? Availability to travel
