Associate Manager, Youth Initiatives

The American Diabetes Association, the nation's leading health organization focused on diabetes, is seeking an Associate Manager to organize and coordinate Youth Activities within the Greater Los Angeles Area. Specific responsibilities include implementing ADA program activities such as the ADA?s Kids Rock the World program, a one-day program for adolescents with diabetes which revolves around a ropes course and builds confidence through team work; developing ADA?s Family Resource Network, a parent to parent networking program; and organizing the Youth element of ADA?s Diabetes Expo. Other responsibilities include establishing and maintaining partnerships with parents, key diabetes and health care professionals and community groups.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with an ability to interact effectively across divergent geographical and socio-economic backgrounds are important. Demonstrated experience in program implementation, community organization, volunteer management, developing/maintaining partnerships; and grant writing are also important. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and demonstrated work experience.
Position will require 60-70% travel within Los Angeles County area.
*The successful candidate will be out-going and a self-starter
*Bachelor's degree required
*Plus 3-5 years of progressively responsible work experience required
*Access to a car for travel
*Ability to lift 25 pounds
*Proficiency in MS Office especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a plus
