Chief Development Officer
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the Air Force One Pavilion, the Center for Public Affairs and the Presidential Learning Center. Located in Simi Valley, California the Library houses over 55 million pages of Gubernatorial, Presidential and personal papers, an extraordinary collection of photographs and film, and over 100,000 gifts and artifacts chronicling the lives of Ronald and Nancy Reagan.
The Chief Development Officer will design and execute a comprehensive and diversified fundraising plan which includes a major endowment campaign, special events, major gifts, corporate giving, planned giving, direct mail and e-philanthropy. The Officer plays a key role in identifying, cultivating and soliciting major donors. The candidate should possess outstanding organizational and communication skills necessary to build strong relationships with donors at all levels. The individual will work in close collaboration with the Board of Trustees to achieve the fundraising goals of the foundation. The Chief Development Officer will be responsible for all fundraising reports, both internal and to the Board of Trustees.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Management
o Serve as member of senior management team
o Serve as an effective senior advisor to the Chairman of the Board, Executive Director of the Foundation, and the Board of Trustees on all fundraising projects and goals.
o Manage development staff
o Oversee all written materials for fundraising plan, including brochures, solicitation letters, direct mail, thank-you and follow-up letters
o Provide strong leadership, direction and motivation for the fundraising staff
Interfaces directly with Board of Trustees
o Prepare Fundraising Report for quarterly Board of Trustees meeting
o Meet and coordinate all aspects of fundraising strategy with individual trustees
o Plan, organize, direct and manage special projects
Fundraising and Donor Relations
o Create and manage major endowment campaign
o Manage major gifts program
o Manage annual membership programs at all levels
o Oversee Direct Mail & Planned Giving programs
o Manage donor database
o Supervise grant writing seeking private sector and foundation grants
o Ensure that all donors are appropriately thanked and receive regular communication by making donor stewardship a priority.
o Develop and maintain close working relationships with the philanthropic community, individual, corporate donors, sponsors, foundations, board members and volunteers.
Coordinate with CFO
o Development of fundraising budget and monitoring projected income reports for each event
Coordinate with Director of Programs
o Develop complementary programming to enhance fundraising efforts
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree required. Higher or professional degrees and/or advanced fundraising certificate preferred. 12+ years of proven and quantifiable record in fundraising experience, including endowment campaigns and major gifts.Ability to perform complex and/or multi-task assignments of support. Uncompromising personal integrity. High energy with ability to effectively communicate passion for the mission.Successful supervisory experience motivating staff and volunteers.Experience with a private foundation and nonprofit board of directors is preferred but not required. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Raiser?s Edge and Blackbaud fundraising software important.A high capacity for attention to accuracy and detail. Strong management skills with a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, lead, and provide feedback to staff. A solid team player, whose door is always open. Well-developed people and communication skills, suited to working effectively with a sophisticated Board, as part of a team of senior colleagues, and support staff.
