TITLE: Director of Operations

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

FLSA STATUS: Exempt, 7:30 AM ? 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday

 

OVERVIEW: The primary responsibility of the Director of Operations is the daily operations of family services and facilities management of the Orange County Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room inside of CHOC at Mission.  This person ensures home away from home environment is maintained at all times.  The Director of Operations follows the mission, goals, and objectives of the Ronald McDonald House as set forth by the Board of Directors.

 

OPERATIONS:

?  Responsible for the daily operations of the House

?  Responsible for the House programs and activities for the families

?  Collaborates with the Executive Director and House Maintenance Committee and Hospital Relations Committee of the Board to evaluate and develop additional family services and consults with the Director of Development to determine the funding source

?  Responsible for the referral, appointment verification, room assignment and family registration procedures

?  Responsible for rental payments

?  Responsible for family records and Family Information System database

?  Responsible for all policies and procedures and manuals

?  Responsible for the Operations budget

?  Responsible for the admissions statistics

?   Supervises the Operations staff

?  Active participant in Operations Committee of the Board

?  Performs all other duties as assigned

 

GUEST RELATIONS:

?  Collaborates with the Executive Director and the Hospital Relations Committee of the Board to establish program policies and procedures

?  Communicates with referral sources (i.e., hospital social workers) regarding family dynamics, special family needs and unique situations

?  Responsible to enforce House policies and procedures

?  Encourages family interaction

 

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT:

?  Responsible for the physical structure and grounds

?  Supervises the building and grounds and maintenance / janitorial staff

?  Responsible for the purchase, maintenance, repair, and tracking of all mechanical systems, manuals, and maintenance / repair schedules

?  Responsible for the housekeeping of the facility

?  Responsible for inventory of House furnishings and the Inventory Database

?  Identifies and coordinates House renovations and / or other facility projects

 

VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS:

?  Collaborates with the Director of Volunteer Services to design shifts

?  Responsible for promoting an environment of appreciation toward volunteers and activity groups

?  Ensures open communication with referral sources, the hospitals and other contacts within the community

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

?  Bachelor?s degree or the equivalent of seven years work experience

?  Five years previous facility management experience

?  Five years previous experience supervising staff

?  Previous experience supervising volunteers

?  Excellent strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail oriented

?  Flexible, diplomatic, trustworthy, creative, poised and maintains a supportive and cheerful attitude

Good knowledge of computer programs, including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

?  Maintains a professional manner in order to work with the Board of Directors, volunteers, staff, and community

 

Preferred:

?  Previous non-profit experience

?  Proficient in speaking Spanish, ability to write in Spanish is an additional plus
