MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Mental Health Treatment Specialist under the supervision of the Youth & Family Development Department Director is responsible for providing services to SBCS? clients and the Community. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission and style and provided within a team framework.  Treatment Specialists are responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives.

 

DUTIES:

Individual, group, couple and family counseling. Case management and other services relative to program goals and objectives.  Including goals and objectives agreed upon with the client.

 

Maintain case records and client charts as required by SBCS and its funding sources.

 

Appropriate coordination of contacts with other public and private organizations and individuals, as necessary to effectively serve clients.  (e.g. progress reports to referral sources, client referrals to other agencies).

 

Monthly statistical reports of services provided as required by SBCS.

 

Outreach to target population in order to effectively reach those in need of services.

 

Participation in special projects and activities as related to agency?s goals and objectives.

 

Participation in agency special events, such as fundraisers, annual meetings, and open houses.

 

Crisis intervention services, and referrals to telephone and walk in persons.

 

Weekends and on call pager services, as required.

 

Participation and assistance in implementing program components.

 

Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator and/or Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in the areas of individual, group, and family counseling, outreach, community education and development, advocacy and case management.  Ability to work with a diverse cultural population. M.A. in psychology or related field, MSW, MFT required.  Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
