Senior Development Associate

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a non-profit national environmental advocacy organization with more than 1.2 million members and online activists.  We have offices in New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles.  Our staff of over 275 includes attorneys, scientists, policy analysts and educators working to protect the environment and public health.

 

The Los Angeles Development/Special Initiatives Department manages major gift donors, an active volunteer group, most celebrity organizational involvement, local and national special events, special initiatives intersecting programmatic work, citizen advocacy and media. 

 

Position Summary:

NRDC seeks a Senior Officer for the Development/Special Initiatives Department in the Los Angeles office.  The Senior Officer will work in concert with and report to the Director of Special Initiatives. 

 

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Officer will be:Prepare programming and materials for volunteer groups and special initiatives Create and implement fundraising strategies for Partnership for the Earth Identify and cultivate new donors Assist in event planning/implementation  (This could include assisting with events in other cities)  Participate in Advocacy Center activities and some communications activities Works in concert with and reports to Director of Special Initiatives

 

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:Bachelors degree A minimum of 5 years of senior development or related experience Excellent interpersonal skills and be extremely detail oriented Ability to work with and cultivate donors Strong writing and analytical skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks.  Also, to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize multiple projects, and perform well under deadlines Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
