Description


The Information Technology Application Development Department, located in Phoenix, AZ has an Opening for a Business Analyst.


Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Collaborates with the Business Stakeholders, IT Project Manager(s), IT Business Analyst(s), IT Software Designer(s), IT Software Architect(s) and project stakeholders while managing the project?s Requirements and Business Modeling Discipline.
Works on multiple, simultaneous projects of which he/she will apply their applicable technical and system functionality background.
May perform various roles on each project including but not limited to: Business Process Analyst, Business Designer and Business Model Reviewer based on relative experience, skill and domain specific knowledge.
Business Process Analyst ? leads and coordinates business use case modeling by outlining and delimiting the modeled organization.
Business Designers ? details the specification of a part of the organization by describing the workflow of one or several business uses cases.
Business Model Reviewer ? participates in formal reviews of business use-case model and business object model.Facilitates and elicits customer, user, systems administration, operations and support requirements from project stakeholders.
Understanding and communicating priority, risk, benefit, effort, stability and organizational impact of business initiatives and re-engineering efforts.
Identifies and communicate non-functional requirements, provides accurate project estimates
Help to achieve goals of: on time project delivery, conformance to business/enterprise architecture standards, principals and patterns, use of enterprise architecture platforms and products, use of and contribution to, the Business and Reference Architecture.
Mentor other staff members
Requires approximately 10% travel depending upon project specifics and business locations.




 Required Skills


Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:

Minimum BS/BA in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems or related degree or 3 years experience as a Business/Systems Analyst, Business Process Engineer or Software Designer.
Working knowledge of one or more of the following: business/use-case modeling techniques, user interface modeling or prototyping techniques, requirements elicitation, configuration management.
Demonstrated experience in utilizing facilitation and brainstorming techniques.
Knowledge of any of the following: one or more of Safeway?s core production databases for specific business domains, (Peoplesoft HRIS and Lawson financials) SRUP project lifecycle, Safeway Business/Enterprise Architecture Principles, Patterns, Platforms and Products is preferred.
Technical knowledge should include one or more of the following: RUP, UML, Rational Rose, Visio, MS Office and enterprise report writing tools such as (QMF, Crystal Reports, Essbase).
Understanding of software design techniques including object-oriented analysis and design techniques using the Unified Modeling Language (UML).
Familiarity with a variety of technical environments including mainframe (MVS/TSO), distributed systems (Unix, NT) and web-based systems. Programming/Development experience in these environments is preferred.
Excellent communications skills (written and oral), customer service skills and problem solving skills.
Able to organize and prioritize job tasks in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
High degree of initiative and sense of urgency.
