Job DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Working to the Maintenance Support Supervisor, ensures that all key operated, button-pad operated, electronic ?cipher?-type door locking devices, electronic and dial combination safes are maintained or repaired to manufacturer?s standards.
2. Drills and repairs GSA approved safes, on Camp Arifjan when required.
3. Maintains a functional library of locksmith documentation and commercially provided technical instructions. May require research to acquire manufacturer materials.
4. Undertakes all assigned work from work order control desk.
5. Assists in assembling, repairing, matching, sequencing and maintaining integrity of a multiple echeloned master key plan system.
6. Assists key control staff in replacing and marking new and replacement keys
7. Seeks technical advice or assistance and researches problems to final favorable resolution.
8. Assists in completing preventative maintenance schedules for all door-locking devices.
9. Conducts corrective maintenance on all structural locking systems on Camp Arifjan. Completes corrective work order documentation accurately and completely.
10. Prepares bills of material (BOM) for lock parts, tools and equipment
11. Supports the 24 hr housing, supply, and maintenance functions within Department of Public Works. May be called in to perform emergency locksmith work.
12. Answers customer inquiries either telephonically, in person, or via e-mail.
13. Completes all paperwork in a timely, accurate, and appropriate manner, IAW CSA, Ltd., guidelines.
14. Assists in cleaning and maintaining the lock and key shop, shop tools and machinery.
15. Performs other tasks as directed

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Education:

a. High School Diploma or equivalent.
b. Requires advanced locksmith training at an accredited trade school, trade center, or vocational academy or with a commercial lock company trainer
c. Prefer training on installing, adapting and modifying (pinning, shimming, etc.) Sargent ? brand locks and door hardware, or completion of a training course conducted by an authorized agent of Sargent ? Lock Company

2. Experience:

a. Certification in applicant?s host nation, or in the US is required. State certification, license insurance certificate or bond to operate is preferred.
b. Requires at least three years verifiable experience as a practicing residential or industrial locksmith.

3. Specialized knowledge:

a. Prefer experience with Sargent ? brand lock and door hardware

4. Skills:

a. Must be able to troubleshoot, rebuild, rehabilitate and refurbish lock cores to match multi-pin/multi-shim mastering systems. May be required to build lock cores from spare parts to establish ?keyed alike? lock systems for similar locations.
b. Must be familiar with servicing, cleaning, lubricating and maintaining all types of lock hardware, to include pad locks, door lock sets, handle sets, ?panic bar? hardware and emergency fire exit hardware
c. Must be able to duplicate keys on automated and manually operated key machines.
d. Must be able to identify key-blanks required to successfully duplicate keys.
e. Must be able to gain keyless entry to locked doors on the installation using standard locksmith and hand tools, without damaging doors, hardware or supporting structures.
f. Must be able to assist in diagnosing door problems that do not directly involve locks. Assists door maintenance teams as needed.
g. Installs and tests locksets and lock cores in new and remodeled doors
h. Should be familiar with AR 190-51 as it applies to lock and key control. Advises the key custodian of lock changes, replacements and relocations, in writing, so that accountability remains accurate.
i. Must be proficient to intermediate level in the use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Power Point.
j. Must speak, read and write English fluently. Must understand and communicate comfortably using common locksmith jargon and vernacular.
k. Must have good customer service skills

Work Environment and Physical Demands

1. Must be able to lift and move 65 lbs continuously
2. Must be able to work in a harsh, dusty environment with temperature extremes.
3. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend and stretch for extended periods
4. Must have unlimited manual dexterity and ability to see and install extremely small parts.
5. Should have no physical disabilities that would preclude the performance of primary duties.
