Can I include my business in my home insurance?

Q I am just about to purchase a new house and require building and contents insurance. The problem is I also run my business from home and need to include this in the insurance plan. How do you find insurance companies that deal with these conditions and offer competitive rates? Northern Rock offer a special homeworkers package but only if you have a mortgage with them. Please help!

A There are several insurance companies who provide special insurance for businesses operating from home premises - indeed, l myself have a policy of that kind (with Axa Insurance). However, as yours is a specialist business, l would recommend contacting an insurance broker, (which is what l did) so that you can shop around to find the most suitable, and competitive, policy to meet your particular circumstances.
