Dear sir/madam

Following the recent decision by the Financial Ombudsman Service on the use of dual standard variable rates at Halifax, Nationwide and Abbey National, I believe that Abbey has breached the terms of my/our mortgage contract.

When I/we took out this mortgage, I/we believed, and reasonably expected, that the standard variable rate (SVR) applied to my/our mortgage would remain the same as the SVR applied to any other Abbey National mortgage. I/we would like you to reimburse me/us for the extra interest we have paid since the introduction of the lower SVR and link my/our mortgage, free of charge, to the lower SVR with immediate effect.

If you cannot comply with this request, please issue me/us with a letter of deadlock so that I/we can take my/our complaint to the Financial Ombudsman.
