Mortgage cashback

Now you can shop till you drop and pay off your mortgage at the same time. A new credit card launched by Yorkshire Building Society tomorrow pays cashback which can be set against a Yorkshire BS mortgage.

Cardholders will 'earn' 1 per cent cashback on the first £2,000 that they spend in any year, followed by 0.5 per cent on any further spending. Those that have a mortgage with the building society will have the cashback paid into their mortgage account to reduce the amount they owe. But don't get too excited about the idea of paying off your mortgage early - a typical card user spending £500 a month will receive just £40 a year in cash back.
