Don't be tempted to roll up Christmas overspending into the remortgage. It may save you money in the short term but there are a number of points to consider before you make that leap. Debts previously not secured against your house are rolled into the mortgage and your home is supporting the debt. Over the whole period you may end up not saving but spending more money.

A credit card with a preferential rate for a period of time may be a better option. The equity in your home is your future. Use it wisely.
