We like fee-free remortgages

With continued uncertainty around what the future may hold for interest rates, we like the idea of buying some time to think about the future and leaving somebody else to pick up the bill.

West Bromwich building society is offering, through a limited panel of brokers, a loan with the security of a fixed rate followed by a discount. The lender will provide solicitors and meet the usual fees charged on remortgaging and will also contribute towards the cost of the valuation.

The rate is fixed at 3.79% for one year from completion and is followed by a 1% discount from the lender's standard rate, which is currently 5.5%, for a further 12 months. Even better, there are no redemption penalties.
