We like flexibility

The level of choice in the mortgage market these days is a world away from "one rate fits all" and there are different types of mortgage to fit different types of borrowers' needs.

One of the calls that lenders have heeded has been the demand for more user-friendly features; most providers now offer a flexible mortgage. These deals offer the ability to make overpayments without penalty, draw back on those overpayments, take payment holidays - and now even savings can be offset against the loan.

This gives the borrower more freedom in the management of their loan and can help them to pay it back more quickly. The lack of ties to the product and the calculation of interest on a daily basis is a real boon for most borrowers.
