Product Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

?  Manages, develops, and implements product marketing activities to maximize sales of an assigned product line or category. 

?  Recommends changes to the current forecasts, pricing, and product offering, based on market research and new trends.

?  Drives new product development (NPD) within the assigned product category; interacts with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Tech Services departments to define these requirements. 

?  Works closely with customers, specifiers, contractors, factory sales staff and rep agencies to stay abreast of changes in the industry and marketing environment, in order to best serve these objectives. 

?  Attends trade shows and industry seminars. 

?  Trains sales team on any relevant product concerns. 

?  Business travel and national or regional trade show attendance required.

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 Education:  A Bachelor?s degree is required, with an emphasis in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance or International Business.  MBA is preferred.

 Experience: Requires at least five (5) years in the field with increasing responsibilities in product management.  Marketing experience in retail ?big box? environments and wholesale / distributor environments is desired.  Additional Business Development or Sales experience is a plus.   Licenses:  None required.  Certified irrigation or landscape titles from accredited industry programs or related professional associations (e.g. CLCA) are a plus.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Requires moderate to high levels of proficiency in a PC / Windows based computer environment using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Web based search tools.  Strong interpersonal and motivational skills are required.  Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills are also required to deal effectively with all levels of management and, at times, customer accounts.  Acute business acumen, backed by experience and judgment, are essential to plan and accomplish goals.
