Job Description



 

We are a software startup looking for a hands-on, experienced, and passionate product manager to take ownership of our data quality product offerings. As a Senior Technical Product Manager, you will be responsible for defining product requirements and driving product execution (including development, QA, documentation, training). The product manager will lead the product definition process for both new product solutions as well as subsequent versions of existing products and solutions. You will be responsible for driving company-wide acceptance of the products, including interfacing with training, support, marketing, engineering, QA, finance and documentation.

 

This job is located in Pasadena, CA.  Local candidates only ? relocation is not provided.  The ideal candidate has the ability & desire to work in a fast paced, pre-investment startup.  Compensation pre-investment offers equity and, if possible, small amounts of cash.  Initial work is contract only with the job becoming full-time with benefits once resources allow.

 

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated individual who seeks the intense, dynamic early startup experience to work primarily with the executive team to drive product management. This person will be responsible for detailed product requirements. This position requires regular interaction with customers, prospects, marketing, engineering, support, and partners to develop requirements for future product releases. Additionally you will provide competitive research and market information to assist with product positioning, while serving as a product advocate through the fostering of key relationships both internally and externally.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 Reviewing industry research to understand broader market needs and technology trends.Understanding the competition from a product and positioning perspective. Leading a cross-functional team to ready new products and features for markets based on the product strategies defined by the executive team.Develop detailed product requirement documentation and business use cases for products and solutions, conveying those requirements to the development staff, and ensuring the implementation is meeting the business cases.Participate in the development of business cases to justify new functionality.Work closely with development managers to ensure quality products on time and on budget.Work closely with professional services, training and technical support organizations to ensure appropriate levels of support for the product.Participate in product rollout with sales, sales support, engineering, and marketing communications.Participate in the development of packaging direction.Participate in the development of pricing and pricing policiesDevelop sales tools and materials (sales presentations, data sheets, white papers, FAQ?s, etc.)Present at seminars, trade shows and other company or industry events.Develop and present product information for sales training.Support the field enablement process by assisting with demo creation, collateral and Sales training.Support sales on highly visible and strategic opportunities.Manage the QA processBug triageFeature and bug prioritizationRecommend when product is ready to move into alpha, beta and releaseParticipate in user groups and customer advisory board; run pilot programs




 

Required Qualifications

FunctionalMust have experience in a product management role with a demonstrated ability to drive product implementation that is in alignment with product strategy.Primary emphasis on inbound product definition and delivery.


DomainCandidate should have multiple years of experience in the enterprise software applications, ideally having Customer Relationship Management (CRM) product management experience.Prefer experience selling into the Small to Medium-sized business through enterprise markets.Prefer experience with Marketing Automation, Sales Automation, Customer Service & Support Automation and Contact Center Automation Partner Relationship Management offering and/or B2B eCommerce.

 

Technology ProductsPreferred product management experience includes Windows and Web-based Development, Database Management Systems, Business Intelligence, ETL, EAI, CDI, Data Warehousing, and/or Data Synchronization.A plus to have experience with Web based (AJAX) applications (SaaS), on premise applications, and/or OEM solutions.

 

 

EducationBachelors and Master?s degrees are preferred, esp. in a technical field (e.g. computer science or electrical engineering)



InterpersonalMust have excellent English oral and written communication skills.  The ability to interact, understand and communicate technical subjects and emerging technologies to the marketplace is required.

 

TravelPosition involves travel to customer/partners sites and/or tradeshows when needed
