ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Program Management at Spectrolab is the IPT leader in getting aerospace flight hardware built at Spectrolab.  A Program Manager is required to lead, coach and mentor the project team (a matrix organization) in all phases of the design & fabrication process to ensure the programmatic and financial success of all programs.  A successful Program Manager must be able to contribute to technical overnight of the program, manage various schedule related issues, interface with engineering, finance, operations and contracts, provide exceptional customer service, be highly proficient in negotiations, and have solid financial reporting, budgeting, earned value management and analysis skills.  Required skills include exceptional communication skills (oral and written), demonstrated leadership qualities in individual, group and customer settings, ability to challenge others to achieve and perform, attention to detail and a superior organizational ability.

 

KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: The successful Program Manager at Spectrolab will have an outstanding technical understanding of Spectrolab products, manufacturing processes and program management skills.  The Program Manager will also be responsible for identifying proprietary products and processes and will be responsible to assure these are protected appropriately.

 

EDUCATION DESIRED: 

It is anticipated that a bachelor?s degree in a related field will provide advantages in this position, although specific degrees are not required.  If a college degree is not possessed, it will be important to demonstrate how experience has provided this skill set to the successful candidate.

 

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

Held program management position (or position with essentially same job requirements and responsibilities) for a minimum of five years.  Candidates will have a proven track record of successful leadership experience, and will have demonstrated abilities of communications with individuals and groups not necessarily reporting to them.

 

Essential Physical / Mental Requirements:

The successful Program Manager will possess superior interpersonal skills, and be able to manage multiple simultaneously running projects; the candidate will also be a highly effective communicator, both orally and in written form; will also possess strong software abilities, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point with solid skills in Microsoft Project and a SAP understanding.  The successful Program Manager will be detail oriented, organized, experienced, and able to demonstrate flexibility, carefully and ingenuity for getting the job done.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.  Must provide proof of lawful right to work in the U.S.  Able to achieve government clearances to enable interface with certain classified customers.  Some travel will be required, so the ability to obtain and keep a passport, as well as to be away from home for multiple day periods will be essential.
