Risk Analytics Project Manager

Job Requirements:
Candidates must have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent combination of experience and education. The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of risk management as it applies to the purchase and sale of electricity and natural gas in the deregulated market, and an advanced understanding of procurement and portfolio management processes, including planning, purchasing, scheduling and settling power transactions. The job will require excellent analytical skills and candidates should possess an advanced understanding of the concepts of power production, the function of the electric and gas markets, and the operation of the generation and distribution systems. The successful candidate will have the ability to work well under pressure, adjust to changing priorities, and have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent project management skills are required as well as the ability to understand complex contracts for power and gas, futures markets, physical and financial transactions for power and gas. This position requires excellent computer skills with an emphasis on Excel. Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Access is also required. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skill. Candidates must be able to work in a team setting and have the ability to work across functions and departments in developing information and solutions. The successful candidate will typically possess seven or more years experience in organization programs, contract management, or function being managed plus five or more years of supervisory or project management experience.

Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work in the Risk Analytics group and will manage large scale analytical projects that directly affect the risk control function as it applies to managing the company?s power and gas portfolios. This position will work in concert with QF Resources and/or Resource Planning and Strategy to analyze and mitigate the risks involved with SCE's participation in the deregulated power and gas markets and renewable power procurement. Activities will include working closely with the various groups inside the company, evaluating potential long and short term deals, analyzing proposed renewable contracts, providing oversight, assisting with strategy development, analyzing processes and procedures, evaluating complex financial and market numerical models and assessing future power and gas acquisitions. Specific duties consist of assisting with the constructing and review of complex planning models and methodologies, preparing reports for the Risk Management Committee, monitoring aspects of regulatory compliance, data gathering and performing risk analyses. The Risk Analytics Project Manager will manage projects related to SCE?s regulatory interfaces where risk control plays a significant role. This includes filings to the CPUC required in the procurement decision, and assessing the adequacy of the financial and quantitative measures employed in the planning process, including documentation of risk management strategies and implementation actions utilized in day to day and long term planning and operations. The opportunity will also be responsible for devising and preparing reports for SCEs management on risk management and financial position of the procurement effort. In addition the position will frequently be responsible for presenting at the executive level, in forums such as the Risk Management Committee.
