Plant Manager

 



 

The Plant Manager reports directly to the President/CEO. It is the responsibility of the Plant Manager to see to the efficient day-to-day manufacturing operation of the Company. As a Senior Manager the Plant Manager is included in strategic and tactical planning.

 

 

He/she will serve as an integral member of a team whose critical mission is to assure the Company?s? continued growth and strength as a leading provider of traditional and digital printing services, directing the activities of Prepress, Printing, Finishing, Trafficking and all areas of Production. In addition, the Plant Manager works on a peer level with the Sales Manager and CFO to ensure efficiency.

 

 

1: Ensure achievement of Company financial, productivity, spoilage and efficiency goals as detailed in the Company?s Strategic Plan, through leadership, efficient management, discipline and positive motivation.

 

2: Maintain strict financial controls of manufacturing, achieving budgetary targets.

 

3: Achieve outstanding production efficiency by strictly controlling waste, carefully managing labor costs and communicating effectively with the work force and all internal and external customers.

 

4: Assure compliance with all safety, health and environmental requirements.

 

5: Oversee proper maintenance of all equipment and systems.

 

6: Oversee proper maintenance of building facilities, and maintain a clean, attractive environment. Create a work environment free of collusion, which supports ultimate trust, integrity and empowerment without personal agendas. Maintain a commitment to a unified dream, goal and mission.

 

7: Create an employee recognition program involving (and nourishing) both workplace and family, that can affect staff daily, monthly and annually.

 

8: Act ethically, honestly and consistently at all times.

 

9: Other assignments as deemed necessary by President/CEO.

 

This position is critical to the success of the Company. Attention to detail, combined with an eye to the overall daily, weekly, monthly and long-term situation of the Company is required. Experience:

 

10 years experience in the sheetfed printing industry with increasing management responsibility, with at least three of those years as manager of a facility with at least 40 employees producing at least $5mm.

 

 

Education:

 

The Plant Manager must have at least 10 years experience in management in a sheetfed print production environment, both traditional and digital. A bachelor?s degree in graphic arts business management or related experience is preferred, or the equivalent of the above through on-the-job training and experience hands-on in each of the cost centers of a typical, similar plant.

 

 

 

Craft Skills:

 

 

High Level of mechanical skills and mechanical aptitude.

Comprehensive understanding of the elements of successful operation for all cost centers.

Wide knowledge of other graphic arts systems, machinery and concepts.

An understanding of production costs on budgeted hourly cost basis and value-added basis.

Understanding and experience in organizational management systems.

Understanding of statistical process controls and process analysis.

Understanding of graphic arts management systems such as PSI, Logic, Prinance, etc.

Computer skills, business and graphics, and the ability to use them in the workplace.

Understanding of computer assisted prepress, press and digital workflow systems.
