Managing Editor
Role:
Intuit is seeking a Managing Editor to help make its internal and external Support content world class. We need someone who can think about helping our customers and agents end-to-end, from the support web site to our internal knowledge base for our QuickBooks accounting software products and services. The Managing Editor will also lead the writing team, setting style and process standards, and driving results. Candidate will have the opportunity to help build and shape our content across multiple platforms, especially on the Web.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Edit and write original content and revamp existing content to ensure a uniform voice and concise language that is easily understood by a general audience of millions for QuickBooks Support site and Knowledgebase
- Develop & execute routines to quantify and prioritize opportunities for product and process improvements based on customer feedback
- Manage end-to-end project schedule, issues, risks and exceptions, drive resolution of issues and escalate as appropriate.
- Define/improve appropriate release-level processes and procedures
- Partner with Product Management and Development, In-Product Help and Support to develop solutions for content needs and gaps
- Work with Business Infrastructure teams to implement infrastructure & tools that enable end-to-end content development, delivery and feedback processes
- Develop and mentor writing staff - drive an innovative organization to new heights
- Edit work of peers, SMEs, and Tech Writers
- Assist in identifying skill set gaps and recruiting, selection and training for Technical Writers
- Contribute to and maintain style guides and guidelines for legal and other standards
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated editing experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment on a daily technical publication, Web site or similar product.
- At least four years of professional editing experience.
- Undergraduate degree in English, journalism or a related field.
- Applies one or more of these or similar technologies to developing content: HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, XML, Windows Help tools (as appropriate to the job)
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and a willingness to learn our current in-house content management tools
-Knowledge of AP style
- Experience leading multiple concurrent projects
- User manuals and other related hard copy documentation
- In-product help systems and associated content* Internal technical documentation (e.g. file structures, and code samples)
- Internal and external knowledge-based articles (e.g. FAQs)
