Technical Editor

Sapphos Environmental, Inc. is currently recruiting for a full-time Editor. The Editor is responsible for editing and reviewing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents for accuracy, consistency, and readability. This is not a writing position. The work entails substantive editing, copyediting, and proofreading, as well as document production to set specifications. The ideal candidate will be able to provide a full range of editing support to a busy and growing company. Position Responsibilities:

?  Ensure that documents are clear and accessible to the general public

?  Ensure that all documents are routed through editing

?  Edit documents for accuracy, consistency, and readability

?  Word process text; format documents within specifications (including headers, footers, tables, and pagination); and use standard tools (spell check and grammar check) to produce signature-ready documents in WordPerfect 10 and Word 2002

?  Consistently implement defined policies and procedures

?  Complete other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements:

?  Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in editing professional publications

?  BA or MA in English, journalism, communications, or a related field preferred

?  Thorough understanding of English grammar and syntax, and sensitivity to style in writing

?  Experience with technical subjects and quantitative information presented in tables and graphs, as well as the ability to conceive such presentations and improve on already-developed concepts

?  Expertise with WordPerfect and Word

?  Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines

The salary range for this position is from $41,600 to $52,520 per year and is determined by level of education and experience. In addition to competitive salaries, Sapphos Environmental, Inc. offers a full package of benefits.
