Sr. Buyer

This position reports to the Supply Chain Leader and is responsible for effectively managing the planning and acquisition of goods and services to support operations and product development processes. The qualified candidate will also be required to professionally and effectively integrate with internal process customers, suppliers and external customers at all levels to provide appropriate levels of support, resolve issues and ensure achievement of company goals and objectives including reducing costs, inventory and lead time. This position will be accountable for material acquisition and operations support assignments classified as moderate to high with regard to material dollars and degree of difficulty. Responsible for negotiating and managing cost effective, high value procurement contracts and long term agreements for material and/or services that support internal requirements as well as goals for reductions in acquisition lead time, inventory and cost while maintaining excellent supplier delivery and quality performance. Responsible for effectively managing the planning and acquisition of assigned commodities to support the production requirements as defined by the master scheduling; includes the analysis of MRP, purchase order placement and reschedules as required.

 

Requirements:  Minimum of 5 years experience in procurement or other experience related to contract negotiation, pricing, cost management, material planning, etc.  Experience as a raw materials buyer;  Experience with MRP; Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and with all management levels in a dynamic environment; Ability to successfully handle multiple, high priority issues simultaneously;  Strong interpersonal and communication skills;  Solid understanding of material planning and scheduling methods; Knowledge of industry supply chain best practices and innovations related to delivery performance, cost management, material handling and lead-time reduction; Proven ability to develop and execute action plans that achieve company goals; Strong decision-making ability and creative problem solving skills; Must have a customer-oriented focus with a creative, aggressive and winning attitude.

 

Desired:  Bachelor?s degree; CPM / APICS certification; Experience with Oracle.
