Job Description/Qualifications

This position requires a BS degree or higher in chemistry, polymer chemistry, or related fields, along with a minimum of 7-10 years experience in the development, formulation and testing of coatings for architectural and/or industrial maintenance (AIM) applications. Knowledge and skills required would include:

 

?  In depth knowledge of the performance requirements for various AIM coatings.

?  Knowledge of and experience with typical resins and binders.

?  Good knowledge of a wide variety of raw materials, including coalescents, thickeners, biocides, surfactants, defoamers, pigments, open time additives, etc., and contacts with the suppliers of those materials.

?  Experience in the grounds-up development and modification of AIM coating formulations to meet specific requirements.

?  Experience in application and laboratory testing of AIM coatings.

?  Good knowledge of current and developing regulatory restrictions, both national and regional, and related coating technologies.

?  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to individuals and groups.

?  Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment (with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing, Business and Product Management).

?  Willingness to travel.

?  Good project planning, execution and reporting skills.

?  Management and supervision of technician support personnel.

?  Experience in the identification and pursuit of sales and product development opportunities.

?  Experience in customer interactions from a technical perspective.

 

Job Responsibilities

Technical support of a line of coalescents and additives for architectural and industrial maintenance coatings, including:

 

?  Identify and recommend new opportunities for products in AIM coatings.

?  Plan and execute projects to promote products.

?  Formulation of coatings for application testing of developmental products.

?  Development of data and information to translate existing products to new applications and customers.

?  Work with marketing, sales and business organizations to launch new products.

?  Travel to customer locations to support existing and launch new products.

?  Presentation of seminars and papers at trade industry symposia.

?  Provide product recommendations and other information to customers.

?  Provide technical support to the sales organization to achieve specific sales objectives.

?  Provide training on products and their benefits to internal and external contacts.
