Description: The Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics group at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) is looking for a highly qualified Ph.D. level scientist in the area of Pharmacokinetics. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the design, analysis, interpretation and reporting of pharmacokinetic and pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic results. In addition, a succesful candidate will be expected to participate on multidisciplinarydrug discovery teams, where their role will be to plan, conduct and interpret in vitro and pre-clinical drug metabolism studies, in order to provide input on drug metabolism issues to aid drug discovery efforts.

 

 Requirements: Candidates possessing a Ph.D. in Pharmacokinetics or a closely related discipline with 5+ years of experience in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company. An in-depth understanding of all aspects of DMPK with special emphasis on the application of pharmacokinetics in drug discovery and the ability towork in a team-based drug discovery/development environment is required. A successful candidate must be able to design and manage both routine and mechanistic animal PK studies, as well as, direct PKresources across the organizationto drive drug discovery efforts. Knowledge and experience with the design of experiments to define PK- PD relationships and competency using non-compartmental techniques and pharmacokinetic modeling software (e.g., WinNonlin or equivalent) is required. Experience with pre-clinical pharmacokinetic protocol design and experience working with CRO#s is highly desired. A successful candidate will need excellent interpersonal skills, particularly oral and written communication skills. Education: Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology or related field.
