Veterans Medical Research Foundation, a non-profit organization, is seeking qualified Research Assistant II for the Research Department. Educational Background Desired:
BA/BS degree in Biology or related field, including 1-2 years lab experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related field is preferred.
Personal Qualifications
Must have excellent interpersonal, communication (both verbal and written) and organizational skills. Successful candidate will be detail oriented and reliable.
Experience and/or special skills
Experience with mouse husbandry (weaning and breeding colony maintenance) is highly desirable.Computer and mathematical skills as required for project work.
Statement of duties and responsibilities:
Join an active team of scientists investigating skin biology. Job duties include breeding and maintaining a mouse colony of knockout and transgenic mice. This person will oversse animal studies and have opportunities for their own projects. This position requires the ability to work with live animals. This person will perform small animal anesthesia and experimentation, including tissue collection and terminal studies. Must be able to keep accurate and organized records, prepare complex reagents and media from basic ingredients; setup and operate laboratory equipment and instruments; work well with a friendly and dynamic group of international investigators. Other duties as assigned.
